Why cremation culture in Sweden shapes your options
Cremation accounts for roughly 84.69%[1] of human deaths in Sweden, and a lot of those ashes end up waiting on a shelf. That's true of pets as well. If you already have an urn at home from an earlier pet, a bio urn can be a way to finish that story: the older ashes and the new can go into one planting, or two trees side by side, whenever you feel ready.

Rules change more often than most people realise, and many local policies about ashes were never written down at all. Treat any general guide for Skane, including ours, as a starting point. Whoever looks after that particular field, park or shoreline is the one whose answer counts, so it's worth getting it by email where you can.
Planting a memorial in Malmo, step by step

Why does the Malmo page quote a human cremation rate?
Because it is the best local signal we have. Cremation Society of Great Britain, International Cremation Statistics 2023 (2023) reports about 84.69%[1] of Sweden residents are cremated. There is no official pet equivalent, and inventing one would be worse than quoting a real, clearly labelled number.
Is water cremation for pets available in Europe?
It's still rare. Ireland opened Europe's first human water cremation service in 2023[7], and Norway has since opened a route for funeral homes to seek approval[8]. Pet aquamation near Malmo may not exist yet, so ask crematoria directly. If it doesn't, ordinary cremation followed by a planting in good compost still makes a lower-impact farewell.
Is there water cremation for pets near Malmo?
It depends on whether a provider nearby has invested in the equipment.
