The local attitude to ashes and memorials
With a human cremation rate near 70.5%[5], California has plenty of crematories competing for families, and that tends to show in the choice on offer. Ask more than one pet provider what they include. Some return ashes in a simple cardboard or paper tube, some add a wooden urn you may not want, and a few can quote for water cremation. The cheapest honest quote is usually the one you can plant from.

What Lancaster's climate means for a living memorial

Rules worth knowing in California before you scatter
Burying ashes, scattering them loose and releasing them on water are often treated as three different things. In California, a place that welcomes a scattering may forbid digging, and a lake that allows a release may not allow a gathering on the shore. When you ask permission, say exactly which one you have in mind.

Will I have to travel to Santa Clarita to arrange things?
